Nagoma by Luca Soprana & Emmanuel Esposito — black-lip mother-of-pearl mosaic dial

Mechanical objects
for collectors who
understand restraint.

Independent watchmaking from a discreet atelier above Lake Neuchâtel. Movement-first construction, finished and adjusted by hand, in microscopic numbers.

Nagoma by Luca Soprana & Emmanuel Esposito — hand-cut mother-of-pearl mosaic dial
— 2026 Novelty

Nagoma. Two makers, one language.

A collaboration between Luca Soprana and master knife-maker Emmanuel Esposito. At the centre of the dial, a mosaic of black-lip mother-of-pearl — individually hand-sorted fragments, arranged one by one. Behind it, a revised LSTO calibre finished to the same standard of restraint as the piece that carries it.

Each set is unique. No two dials share the same composition.

01 The Philosophy

A refusal of the superfluous.
A culture of detail.

At SMA, every watch begins with the movement and the architecture of timekeeping — not with marketing, not with surface decoration. The majority of components are manufactured in-house using traditional methods.

Wheels, pinions, hands, even hairsprings are shaped, counted and finished by hand. Total control over performance, over aesthetics, over substance.

№ 01

By the hand, not the machine.

Pivots, balance staffs, chatons — the traditional way, inside one atelier, under one roof, above one lake.

№ 02

Architecture before ornament.

Symmetry and linearity. Attention to the finishes is extreme, but never in demonstration.

№ 03

Four generations.

A grandfather's bench in Valdagno. Bologna. WOSTEP. Vianney Halter. Patek Philippe. Rolex. Then, alone.

№ 04

Substance over noise.

Quiet, deeply technical, relentlessly focused. The invisible engine behind watches you already admire.

The Collection.

Three pieces signed under the name Soprana — each a study in restraint, each finished and adjusted in Vaumarcus. Production is limited, deliberately. We make what we can make well.

Derek Pratt Remontoir d'Égalité by Luca Soprana — silvered Roman dial

Derek Pratt — Remontoir d'Égalité

Calibre DP07 · 41.6 mm · GPHG 2025 finalist

A constant-force wristwatch Derek Pratt never had time to finish himself. Rebuilt at Atelier SMA with the blessing of his family — Reuleaux-triangle remontoir, deadbeat seconds, a handful of pieces per year.

02 / The Movement

Everything begins with the calibre.

The plate and bridges are ARCAP — non-ferrous, non-magnetic, stable under temperature. Straight Geneva stripes. Black-polished steel. The captions — Luca Soprana, Vaumarcus, — engraved directly into the movement, never plated on.

« Real human relationships are more important than marketing. The finishes are extreme — never in demonstration. »

Born in Valdagno, Italy, 1974 — fourth generation of a family steeped in horological tradition. Economics and philosophy in Bologna. WOSTEP at twenty-six, training alongside Kari Voutilainen. In 2002, WOSTEP's first Italian instructor.

Vulcain. Vianney Halter. BNB Concept — head of prototyping on the Concord Tourbillon Gravity. Patek Philippe, then Rolex. Finally, alone: Atelier SMA, in the shadow of Vaumarcus Castle.

The invisible backbone of modern watchmaking. The Jacob & Co. Astronomia. The Massena LAB Old School. The completion, at last, of Derek Pratt's remontoir d'égalité wristwatch.

Wear something made by hand.

Production is limited. Each commission begins with a conversation — about the calibre, the case, the feeling you want on your wrist in twenty years.
